Botswana National Museum
Located in the Botswana capital of Gaborone, the Botswana National Museum is also known as the National Museum and Art Gallery. It is a multi-disciplinary institution that includes the National Art Gallery and Octagon Gallery, as well as the National Botanical Garden since 2007. The museum displays traditional Botswana crafts and paintings and aims to celebrate the work of local artists. The Gaborone National Museum & Art Gallery hosts numerous works by artists of the country. It also hosts artefacts of southern Africa and continues to be a great educational location.

Kgosi Bathoen Ii (Segopotso) Museum
Located Southern Bostwana, Kanye, the museum has few collections, most of which are artwork from students in nearby schools and a few music instruments used by the surrounding communities. It houses the history of the Ngwaketse the chief group in Southern District. It also contains artifacts made according to the Setswana culture. It is situated at the Main Mall and suffers from a lack of funds.
Kgosi Sechele I Museum
The Kgosi Sechele I Museum is a community based project for Kweneng District, Botswana, which has come out of local concern for the preservation and conservation of their culture. The museum was opened to the public in 1992 and the structure was built around 1902 by the Bakwena tribe for the then residential colonial police commissioner. The building has been declared a National Monument. The Museum offers an arts and crafts programme, educational programmes for schoolchildren, and guided tours of the village.

Khama III Memorial Museum
The museum is about 800m from the central shopping area on the road towards Orapa. It outlines the history of the Khama family, one of the most important dynasties in Southern Africa. The museum includes the personal effects of Chief Khama III and his descendants, as well as various artefacts illustrating Serowe’s history. There are also exhibits on African insects and snakes, San culture and temporary art displays.

Nhabe Museum
A community based museum for Ngamiland in Maun, North-west of Botswana. It is a historic building built by the British military in 1939 and used during WWII as a surveillance post keeping tabs on German Namibia. The museum offers a few displays about the history of the Ngamiland district and some dusty exhibitions of photography, basket weaving and art. Donations are welcome. The museum also houses a centre for local artists. Some of its important exhibits are paintings, sculptures and woodworks, all made by people of Botswana.

Phuthadikobo Museum
This historical museum was originally a school built in 1923 to accommodate the children of the Bakgatla community, whose tribe moved to the area in the 1870s under pressure from Boer settlers. The Cape Dutch style building was converted into a museum in 1976, reconstructing the history of the Bakgatla tribe from old photographs from the early 1900s, and old objects of daily life such as weapons and musical instruments. It is the only museum in Africa with an emphasis on the history of the community over the last 100 years and has artifacts over 50,000 years old. The museum has a range of displays, a craft shop and a silkscreen printing workshop which are unique to Africa.

Supa Ngwao Museum
Housed in a 100-year-old government camp, the museum includes a prison and a police canteen. The museum was established in the year 1986, largely to preserve the historical information about the Francistown city and other places around it in the northern region. It hosts temporary art exhibitions is a public institution dedicated to human history, culture, tradition and crafts from north east Botswana.
