TERESA CLARKE
Founder, Chair, and CEO

For over a decade, Teresa has served as Chair, CEO & Executive Editor of Africa.com LLC, a holding company with digital media assets showcasing Africa-related business content, including the Africa.com Publishers Network which reaches nearly 20 million visitors per month.  

Previously, she was the first African-American woman promoted to managing director in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs & Co. where she oversaw corporate finance and M&A transactions in the industrials sector.

She was one of 15 private sector leaders appointed by the White House to the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa. She is Chair of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Chair of the Friends of the Legal Resources Centre of South Africa, and Chair of the Student Sponsorship Program of South Africa.

Teresa serves on the Africa Advisory Board of Human Rights Watch, and on the advisory board of the Harvard Center for African Studies.  She also serves on the advisory board of D-Cubed, the Harvard Business School think tank that conducts applied research on the intersection of artificial intelligence and business.

Teresa has received numerous awards for her philanthropic work in Africa, including two from the government of South Africa and one from the Nigerian chapter of the International Women’s Society.

Teresa is the author, director and producer of the documentary Africa Straight Up, and delivered the TED Talk Bridging the African Diaspora Divide,

She earned an A.B. in economics, cum laude, from Harvard College, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
