Gambia National Museum
Banjul is home to a Gambian cultural museum. It houses historical documents and displays about the Gambia’s history. It first opened its doors in 1985. The primary goal of the museum is to collect and preserve artifacts documenting the material culture of the Gambia, as well as to educate both visitors and residents who are unfamiliar with Gambian history.
Kachikally Museum and Crocodile Pool
The Kachikally crocodile pool is in Bakau, Gambia, about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from the capital Banjul. It is one of three sacred crocodile pools where fertility rituals are performed. Folonko in Kombo South and Berending on the north bank are the others. Kachikally is a privately owned crocodile pool owned by the Bakau Bojang family, one of the city’s founding families and major land owners. The exact number of crocodiles is unknown, but it is thought to be around 80.
African Heritage Museum
The African Heritage Museum, also known as the African Heritage Centre, is a museum and art gallery located in Bakau, Gambia. It was previously located in Banjul. The Museum has a significant collection of African art and statues. The museum’s art is for sale, and when sold, it is replaced by other local art.
