Musée National des Costumes

The Musée National des Costumes de Grand-Bassam is an Ivory Coast museum. It is situated in the Comoé District of Grand-Bassam. The National Museum of Costume is a grand colonial-style structure that houses a diverse collection of ancient cultural artifacts and collections from across the country. The colonial rulers of the time built the Musée National des Costumes as a palace in 1892. Felix Houphouet Boigny, the first president of Cote d’Ivoire, turned it into a museum in 1981. Models of local community dresses and customs, including kings and chiefs from Korhogo, Boualé, and other regions of Cote d’Ivoire, are on display at the Museum of African Art.

These include archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, as well as photographs and works of contemporary art.
