Togo’s President Gnassingbe’s Party Wins Majority in Legislative Elections

President Faure Gnassingbe’s ruling party has won a sweeping majority of legislative seats in Togo’s latest parliamentary elections. According to the final provisional results released last Friday, the party won a sweeping majority with 108 of 113 seats. Following the enactment of controversial constitutional reforms last month, the win paves the way for President Gnassingbe’s return to power after his current tenure ends next year.
