Breakfast: Is it Really the Meal of Choice for the Power Elite?

Overheard on the WEF shuttle bus between the convention centre and the hotel:

Man #1:

Are you going to the McKinsey & Co. breakfast tomorrow morning?

Woman #1:

Gee, I don’t know. There are so many “on the sideline breakfasts.”

Man #2:

I’m glad you pointed that out. I was invited to the McKinsey breakfast and the Mastercard/Deloitte breakfast. Do you think I can go to both?

Man #1:

I think there is also a breakfast hosted by the Boston Consulting Group.

Woman #1:

And another one by Barclays.

Man #2:

So there are at least four breakfasts tomorrow morning, in addition to the official WEF events: McKinsey, Mastercard/Deloitte, Boston Consulting Group and Barclays. Why, oh why do all of these companies all host breakfast? Why don’t some of them host brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails or dinner?

Woman #1:

All of these companies employ geniuses. And you know that geniuses are actually just really smart people who get up early in the morning.
